Why woman centered care is essential for our evolution

‘The way we take of women in our societies is reflected in the way we take care of the earth’.

What do you think of this statement?

For me I see this to be true, but not just how we treat women, also how we as women treat ourselves!
Connecting to my womb, my body & my cycles has brought me closer to earth and it’s medicine than ever before.

In many cultures, women are seen as natural nurturers who are in tune with the cycles of life. This intuition extends beyond caring for loved ones to include a deep connection with the earth. From birth, women are often the primary caretakers of children and the home. In this role, we must teach the next generation about respecting and taking care of our planet.

Throughout ‘herstory’ women played a vital role in agriculture, often responsible for planting, harvesting, and preparing food. This intimate knowledge of the land gave them a unique perspective on its importance and how we should treat it. In my eyes women have always been the backbone of society. But while they have shouldered a great deal of responsibility, they have also faced discrimination and violence throughout history and still today.

Societies that treat women poorly often also mistreat the earth. This is because the two are interconnected: the way we care for one reflects the way we care for the other. When women are devalued, so is nature. If we see women as nothing more than commodities to be used and abused, then we will also see the earth as nothing more than a resource to be exploited. This disposable attitude leads to all sorts of problems, from deforestation to species extinction, and as we see today - war!

But when we honour, respect and support ALL women, we also honour, respect and support the earth. We realise that both are vital to our survival and well-being, and that we must care for them both with love and reverence.
Only then can women truly nourish and nurture from a place of fullness and only then can we create a sustainable future for all.

There are a number of ways that society can care for women:

  • Value women’s contribution and make sure that they are recognised and appreciated

  • Create environments in which women feel safe to be themselves and express their needs

  • Provide opportunities for women to relax and recharge

  • Support women when they face challenges or difficulties, whether it be financial assistance, emotional support, or a listening ear

  • Provide more opportunities for education and employment

  • Work to end violence against women

  • Ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare

When women thrive, society as a whole benefits and that is why the care of women will be my legacy!
